Mariela is a bilingual Jewelry Designer and Metal-smith Artist. She loves all forms of Art, and enjoys creating “Wearable Art” with a variety of materials such as wire, sheet metal, beads, gems, fibers, resin, paper, found objects, and re-purposed vintage jewelry. She believes that with creativity and some elbow grease anything can be transform into beautiful objects of art. Mariela has taken workshops with many prestigious artists such as Mary Hettmansperger, Pauline Warg, Sam Patania, Thomas Mann, Richard Sally, Sherry Haab, Jen Cushman, Barbara Beck-Simon, Gail Crosman-Moore, Patrik Kusek , Robert Dancik, and many more wonderful artists. She also went to Paris and the south of France for a 2 weeks workshop on found objects with Susan Lenat-Kazmer and Linda Larsen, and participate in the 2 weeks long famous Bead and Button annual Show in Milwaukee where there are more than 800 workshops with very prestigious Artists. Mariela also took Metal Work classes at Miami-Dade College with Maureen Shakey. She is a member of the ‘South Florida Art Jewelry Guild’ and the ‘Florida Society of Goldsmiths South Chapter’. Mariela has served as Publicity, Board Member, and Vice President for the South Florida Jewelry Art Guild what gives her the opportunity to exchange knowledge and ideas with the more than one hundred multi-talented guild members and the prestigious guess Artists that come to SFJAG on monthly bases. She also is a self-taught artist always looking for inspiration to achieve new knowledge and conquer new techniques. She enjoys sharing ideas with like-minded artists and teaching. |
